André Ekermans co-founded EKCON Engineers and Project Managers in January 1996 after heading the Western Cape Building Division of a well-known multi-disciplinary company for 12 years. He specializes in structural engineering and has extensive experience in the conceptual and detail design of reinforced and tensioned concrete structures as well as structural steel design in the building, industrial and sport industries. His experience in heading a multi-disciplinary design team for many years, has equipped him well to offer the client cost-effective and integrated solutions in the commercial sector.

He obtained a Hons B Eng degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch in 1978 and, after three years in marine engineering, joined the consulting engineering industry.

Prominent previous projects include: Extensions to the Houses of Parliament for the Tri-cameral System, Strand Pavilion, Bellville Stadium and the Vodacom Techno Centre, Vodacom Regional Head Office Century City, 24 storied Topaz apartment block, Westra Wheat Mills and Pasta Factory Kimberley and King Edward Hospital Durban.

Current projects include:

  • Bantry Hills and the Warwick apartment blocks on the Western Seaboard,
  • a 100 bed hospital for Sipetu in Transkei as well as
  • various Distribution Centres and Warehouses.
